  • The Second Circle Institute (2CI) is a leadership accelerator and peer network designed for directors, VPs, and senior leaders just outside the C-suite. We combine immersive development with year-round community and support, giving you practical frameworks, trusted peers, and strategic clarity for the unique challenges of leading without the final say.

  • 2CI is built for experienced, non-executive leaders — typically directors, VPs, and senior managers who oversee large teams or initiatives, carry significant responsibility, but aren’t yet in the top seat.

  • The Accelerator is a 3-day in-person program, with full days and optional evening activities. After that, ongoing membership is designed to fit into a busy leader’s schedule — typically 2–3 hours per month for Core Circle meetings and optional Field Exchanges, plus one annual 2-day Summit and a handful of regional gatherings if you choose to join.

    The Accelerator and Core Circle are the core commitments. Field Exchanges, the Summit, and regional events are optional but highly encouraged.

  • Yes — many members join alongside colleagues. To preserve candor and diversity in each group, we limit participation to two people from the same company per cohort.

  • Yes. After completing the Accelerator, members receive monthly executive-style coaching as part of their annual membership. Coaching continues with each renewal year, giving you structured guidance alongside your peer group experience.

  •  Yes — we provide templates and documentation to support your request.

  • Members are directors, VPs, and senior leaders from companies typically ranging from 15 to 5,000 employees. They represent a wide mix of industries — from finance and healthcare to construction, retail, and technology. What they share is a unique position of influence without the final say: leading big teams, driving cross-functional initiatives, and navigating the complexity of being just outside the C-suite. They come to 2CI for practical frameworks, candid feedback, and a trusted peer circle that understands their challenges.

  • Yes. The Accelerator is the gateway to membership. It sets a common foundation and builds the trust that makes ongoing peer work effective. In Year 2+, members may continue without repeating the Accelerator, though attending additional sessions is optional at a reduced rate.

  • After completing the Accelerator, you step into full membership, which includes:

    • Core Circle: monthly small-group cohort meetings.

    • Field Exchanges: peer groups by industry, company size, or role.

    • National Summit: our annual in-person gathering.

    • Regional Socials: dinners, sports events, and community activities.

    • Community & Tools: private forum, curated resources, and guest speakers.

  • The first Accelerator is in Charlotte, NC (October 27–29, 2025). Future sessions will rotate across accessible cities with strong hospitality, boutique hotels, and convenient airports.

  • Cohorts are intentionally small — usually 15–20 participants — to maximize candor and connection.

    • Full 2CI program admission and materials for the first year.

    • Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments each day of the Accelerator.

    • Group dinner on the second night (the first night is independent for case study preparation).

    • Lodging at the group hotel.

    • Travel is not included.

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and close once a cohort is full. We recommend applying at least 4-6 weeks before your preferred Accelerator.

  • Applications are reviewed quickly — you’ll receive a decision within one week. If accepted, you’ll receive a logistics packet with travel and lodging details. Case study materials are kept confidential and are only shared onsite at the Accelerator to preserve the immersive experience. Ahead of the program, you’ll also be invited into a private Slack group with your cohort to share questions and connect before arriving.

  • Dress is very business casual — comfortable but put together. Many participants wear the same attire they’d choose for a small-group strategy offsite.

  • The Accelerator is a core part of membership, so you should only apply if you are confident you can attend. If something changes after you’ve been accepted and you can no longer make it, you may defer once to a future Accelerator.
